Andalucía is bracing for a severe weather emergency this Wednesday as a “red alert” has been issued for parts of Cadiz and Malaga provinces.

The regional president Juanma Moreno convened a committee to coordinate response to storm Leonardo in Seville, Spain on Tuesday.

This storm is expected to merge with the tropical “atmospheric rivers” of the Caribbean. It could dump as much as 250mm of rainfall on already saturated land.

Wednesday all Andalusian Provinces are under an amber, yellow or red warning.

On its official channels, the Andalusian Emergency Agency (EMA) warned that the current hydrological and weather conditions require everyone to exercise extreme caution.

The Seville committee will inform the public and press in the early afternoon.
