THE UK’s only dwarf-sized drag queen recently completed a massive weekend of performances on the Costa del Sol.

Jamie John, 30, is one of the stars from the hit Channel 4 series Seven Dwarves. He has been performing in drag since a decade.

This time, he returned to Spain for two high energy shows at Mirror Mirror in Puerto de la Duquesa. The show was part of the fundraising for Manilva Pride 2019, which is taking place in 2019.

John, originally from Norfolk took time from his busy schedule after splashing water all over the crowd, cartwheeling and heckling everyone to speak with Olive Press.

“Seven Dwarves is the origin of Miss DQ,” said he. “I liked Lily Savage’s comedy.

“The one who really began it though was DQ Eurovision.”

DQ is the drag queen of Denmark, played by Peter Andersen. He represented Denmark at Eurovison 2007 Helsinki

For his own queen persona though, John says that DQ means ‘dwarf queen’.

GAME of THRILLS: Jamie John dressed as Miss DQ.

Although he has inspirations for his work, he claims to be driven by his ambition.

“I want to be Miss DQ.

I’d love to be on cruise shows.

“Anyone can wear a dress and do mime but that doesn’t make you a drag queen.”

John said that he is looking forward to Manilva Pride, which takes place this year from June 14 to 16.

John insists on the fact that being a drag Queen is an art.

“Pride for me means bringing people together.

It is important for everyone. There aren’t any labels.

John, who has attended local theatres and drama schools and is no stranger to drag performances, still remembers his early days.

John will be back in Manilva this Summer

He said that his friends and family loved drag.

There’s always something about coming out.

“You’ll get homophobia as a gay male, but wear a dress, and the situation changes.”

“Anyone can wear a dress and do mimes, but that doesn’t make you a drag queen.”

John performs two different types of shows, a lip-sync performance and one that is live.

His favourite things to sing are Queen and musicals – the crowd at his Manilva show were treated to a fantastic lip sync of Miss Hannigan’s Little Girls from AnnieSusan Boyle is also a good example. X-Factor audition.

After parting with his agent, John has now gone solo, booking and managing his own gigs and tours, but admitted, ‘it is hard work’.

You feel exhausted, especially when you drag. It feels like you are going 100mph.

John will be performing as Miss DQ in Manilva Pride during the summer.

He revealed that he is also busy and his schedule does not allow him to find love.

“You are so busy that I haven’t found anyone who can keep up with you.”

“One day Mr. Right will come, but there must be a ying-and-yang.”

John is an avid gardener, cook and chicken farmer when he’s off the road. His best dish? A chicken fillet wrapped with Parma Ham.

He’ll be back in Manilva during the summer.
