BREAKING NEWS: Two high-speed trains derailed in southern Spain, killing at least five people

Guardia Civil reports that at least five people died and dozens were injured after two high speed trains carrying hundreds passengers derailed in Andalucia.

On Sunday evening, an Iryo travelling from Malaga toward Madrid veered off the track and crashed near Adamuz.

After colliding with the train that was flipped, a second service from Madrid bound for Huelva and running on a nearby line also rolled over.

After the horrific incident, multiple other passengers were injured and unknown numbers of people remain trapped.

Social media videos show passengers climbing over broken windows to reach emergency services.

On X, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated: “Very worried about the accident involving two high-speed train that has derailed in Adamuz.

“The government, along with other competent authorities and the emergency services are working together to help passengers.”

As a result, the accident has caused the suspension of services between Madrid and Andalucia.
