Alvaro Abeloa is the new head coach for the Reserve Team at REAL Madrid. He replaces Xabi Arbeloa.
A statement was issued that expressed the decision as one of ‘mutual consent’ but most Spanish media outlets have couched the move as a sacking.
Real was defeated by Barcelona 3-2 in the Supercopa de Espana in Jeddah.

Alonso’s departure was attributed to disagreements between Alonso and key players Vinicius Jr, Federico Valverde or Jude Bellingham.
Three of the three allegedly disagreed with his tactic and leadership style.
Xabi, 44, Alonso signed a contract for three years in May last year to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
Real Madrid CF has announced that Xabi Alonso will no longer be the coach of their first team. This decision was made by mutual consent.
“He is loved and admired by all Real Madrid supporters because he has always embodied the values of the club. Real Madrid is his forever home.”
“Our Club thanks Xabi alonso and his coaching staff and sends best wishes to the future,” concluded the statement.
Real won 10 La Liga games in the first 11 under Alonso. But rumours about Alonso’s job status increased when reports surfaced of a disconnect between his star players.
Barcelona currently leads the table with four points.
Alonso was replaced by Alvaro Arbeloa (42), a former Real right back who played 238 matches in seven years.
Albacete, his first game as coach will be on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey.
Arbeloa has had a long and successful career as a Spanish national team defender, playing for Real Madrid.
He has 56 caps and was part of Spain’s squads that won the European Championships in 2008 and 2012, as well as the World Cup 2010.
