A British man was arrested in southern Costa Blanca on charges of sexual assault committed between 2014 and 2015 in the UK.
The Policia Nacional said the fugitive had been given a maximum sentence of life imprisonment- presumably after a trial held ‘in absentia’.
Unnamed 41 year old was arrested in San Fulgencio, a municipality that is home to many tourists and expats who own properties at the La Marina and El Oasis residential areas.

Around 3,500 British nationals are registered as residents in San Fulgencio.
The exact nature of these crimes or the location in which they occurred has not been revealed.
Interpol issued an international arrest order in August last year after receiving information that the man could reside in Alicante.
He was tracked down by the police in San Fulgencio, where he arrested him at an unknown date.
The British national was taken into custody by the National Court of Madrid, as is customary when detentions are made under an international warrant.
The UK will then proceed with the extradition request.
