The final days of the festive season are upon us, and Malaga, like the rest of Spain is preparing to welcome the crowning glory, the Three Kings Parades. These parades will be held in the streets of Malaga, and towns on the Costa del Sol, starting Monday, 5 January. Their Majesties fill the streets of Malaga and the Costa del Sol with colour and illusion in elaborate processions from around 4pm. The parades are sure to delight both young and old. The Three Wise Men, their entourages and vehicles will arrive on land, air and sea to delight crowds of excited children.
The route will continue to follow the traditional course of the Malaga parade, which starts at the city council. This parade is best enjoyed by families in the areas of Paseo del Parque Alameda principal and Plaza de la Marina.
In Nerja, the procession will depart from the iconic Balcón de Europa at 4pm and pass by some of the town’s most emblematic points.
The agenda in Torremolinos will start at 4pm, when the Three Wise Men offer a special reception for children and youth with disabilities at the Town Hall. The cavalcade leaves Plaza Blas Infante around 5pm, and heads to the center of town.
The traditional arrival of Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar by boat in Benalmádena marina will take place at 10am. The parade in Benalmádena Pueblo will depart at 3pm from the Buddhist Stupa; while in Arroyo de la Miel (entrance to Tivoli) the Three Kings will set off at 5.30pm and head to the Casa de Cultura. Both parades are inclusive and will start without noise so that children who have autism spectrum disorders can also enjoy the activity.
The kings are returning to Fuengirola in a helicopter that will land at the Ebola Sports Complex at 4pm. This will mark the beginning of an event combining spectacle, tradition, and excitement for all the family. At 5pm, the 25 floats leave the El Boquetillo area and will follow a route into the town center.
The main parade in Marbella begins at 6pm, starting from Plaza Monsignor Rodriguez. However, their Majesties first visit the Marbella hospitals from 11am.
Estepona’s parade starts at the town hall and goes through the centre of the town.
Information can be found by visiting the social media pages of the town halls concerned.
