Marbella hosts hundreds of Santas on bikes

On Thursday, December 18th, Motoclub Los Mentirosos bikers brought their “Papanoelada”, an annual event, to Marbella. Riders donned Santa Claus, elves or festive costumes instead of their usual leather gear to form a massive convoy and collect toys donated by local residents.

The event kicked off at 6pm from the Bulevar de Pablo Ráez, with participants revving their engines amid cheers from onlookers. The convoy passed through important streets such as Avenida Ricardo Soriano, Avenida Severo Ochoa and ended at the iconic Marbella Arch. Along the route, citizens lined the sidewalks, handing over new toys and spreading joy as the bikers – many sporting white beards and red hats – waved and collected donations.

Biker Santas tradition in Costa del Sol

The Papanoelada is a Costa del Sol tradition that has been organized in conjunction with the Marbella City Hall. Club president Carlos Cecilla explained The event’s mission is to “bring illusion and magic to children, especially.” These bikers may look tough, but they have the kindest hearts when it’s time to help families.

Local councillor Yolanda Marín lauded Noting that the fire, police and civil protection departments are all working together to keep everyone safe, she praised the initiative. “This event captures the true spirit of Christmas – solidarity and joy for all,” she said.

As the exact figures are still being counted, organisers The number of toys collected is expected to be thousands. The toys will be given to families in need through local charities. This ensures that no child is left without a gift on Christmas morning.

Residents described it as magical, with engines thundering like hooves on reindeer and lights flashing from decorated motorcycles. The air was filled with holiday cheer. One spectator remarked, “It’s amazing to see these bikers transform into Santas – it reminds us that Christmas is about giving back.”

Los Mentirosos Club, which is known for its charitable rides that take place throughout the year and continues to demonstrate how, beneath the rumble Harleys, lies a deep commitment to community. This Papanoelada, which takes place during the festive season, highlights Marbella’s warm heart despite its glamorous reputation.
