Marbella is preparing to host its first-ever ‘Marbella Pet Friendly’ Congress on December 12th. This initiative aims to educate people on the importance of responsible pet ownership and animal welfare, as well as to bring awareness about the daily dynamics of life with companion animals.
Organised by the City Council, through its Health Department, together with the association Marbella Canina, the event will take place at 7pm in the Gregorio García Guerrero Hall at the Adolfo Suárez Conference and Exhibition Centre. Prior online registration is required. Admission is free.
When presenting the even, the councillor for the area, Alejandro González, described the congress as a milestone for the city, reflecting a growing interest in pet wellbeing and community coexistence. Sergio Moya from Marbella Canina joined him to present the event. He played an important role in the development of this program.
González went on to explain that the programme features three talks led by sector professionals, each focusing on practical and accessible guidance for pet owners.
An Artemis Clinic veterinary doctor will start the evening by giving advice on how to react in emergency situations. The talk will cover the most important first-aid situations and scenarios in which immediate action can make a significant difference.
Moya will follow with a session on achieving a balanced dog–owner relationship, delving into training strategies, prevention of behavioural issues and ways to strengthen communication between pets and families.
An official from the Local Police canine units will present key guidelines and regulations to conclude the event. The talk, titled “Your Dog and You”, covers topics like the correct use muzzles, pet management in urban shared environments, and current laws regarding dangerous breeds.
González emphasised that this congress marks the beginning of a broader ‘Marbella Pet Friendly’ project. Moya encouraged residents and pointed out that the registration form allows owners to indicate behavioural concerns. This helps tailor the content of the event to the real needs of the community.
