After the summer reopening, the iconic Don Carlos Marbella opened its doors again. This is the beginning of a new era in the hotel industry. The Selenta Group property, which recently concluded an ambitious €45 million renovation, has announced the appointment of Jorge Manzur as its new General Manager.

Manzur is joining the Don Carlos Marbella as General Manager from Anantara Villa Padierna where he was previously employed. His move is a strategic step for Selenta Group, with CEO Albert Tomás giving a boost to the “constant pursuit of excellence” across all the group’s divisions.

A new era for Don Carlos Marbella

Manzur’s career spans over 20 years in the high-level hospitality sector. He has a wealth experience in managing luxury accommodations, operational efficiency, and teams. His impressive CV includes roles at major chains such as Le Méridien, InterContinental Hotels Group, and Westin Hotels & Resorts. Notably, he served as general manager of Puente Romano in Marbella prior to taking over at Anantara villa Padierna.

Manzur‘s primary goal at Don Carlos Marbella is to reaffirm its position as a luxury benchmark on the Costa del Sol. He stated his commitment to perfecting Don Carlos’ fame. His conviction was that it can be strengthened as an iconic Mediterranean destination for luxury by “combining authentic quality and a unique experience”.

The appointment was made to boost the hotel’s profile internationally and ensure an exceptional hospitality offering for its guests.

Javier Friera, the resort’s new general manger, has also been announced as part of this leadership change. Friera’s inclusion is a new stage for the “museum” hotel, which is celebrated as an icon of luxury and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Friera’s career spans three decades in the hotel industry, and is characterized by strategic leadership and management across the finest national and international hotels. Friera is a law graduate and a tourism specialist with an extensive background in operations.

Friera has been tasked to reinforce the unique identity of Anantara VillaPadierna. The resort is an Italian-inspired villa surrounded by 3 golf courses, and houses over 1,200 pieces of art.
