The 33-yearold man climbed up the roof of a shopping centre and cut the asphalt layer that covered the store.

He removed plasterboard sections until he found an internal walkway which connected the various shops.

Then he entered the shop through a back entrance.

He opened the cases with a screwdriver without breaking them, and took out all the pieces. This included a collection of diamonds and white gold.

Police found a second-hand car that he had bought a few month earlier and used to drive him to the shopping center.

The day following the heist he drove out of country and got it rid of it.

Investigations revealed that he frequently traveled to and from Spain under different identities, to avoid getting caught by police.

A judge sent him to prison after he was arrested at a second visit on 22 October.

At the time of his detention, he had €3,000 in cash on him which he could not say where it came from.

A chain, which he wore around his neck, was also one of the stolen items.
