Costa Gaels shines at Malaga Tournament


The Costa Gaels had a great day at the Malaga Tournament in early this month. Both men’s and woman’s teams delivered standout performances.

The men’s team began their campaign with a convincing win over Éire Óg Sevilla, dominating through disciplined defence, swift transitions, and clinical finishing. The team’s second match, against Celta malaga, ended in a draw after a tough battle. This reflects the team’s resilience. The day ended with a convincing win over Gibraltar Gaels. This secured their place as one of the top teams in the region.

The women’s team was also impressive. They opened with a win over Gibraltar Gaels, followed by a comfortable victory against Éire Óg Sevilla. The day was capped off with a stunning win over Celta Malaga. This victory featured a combination of solid defense, sharp offensive play, and seamless collaboration. Multiple players scored and the team’s fitness, composure, and unity were evident throughout the matches.

Costa Gaels Gaelic Football Club, founded in 2001, has become one of the most prominent Irish sports clubs along the Costa del Sol. The club offers training to adults and children in Gaelic Football and Hurling at the Marbella Rugby Club. Senior teams compete twice a month in Andalucian and European leagues. Kids’ clubs offer weekly sessions where they combine football and hurling with fun games.

The Malaga Tournament showed the growth of Gaelic Games in the area. The Costa Gaels club was represented with pride, passion and skill by both teams.
