Mums set out to make family life easier with online hub

Mums use online hub to simplify family life

Finding meaningful activities to do with children on the Costa del Sol is not always easy. Little Family Hub was born out of this challenge. It’s a platform for expat mums.

The goal of the company is to simplify family life and allow parents to spend more time with their children and less time looking for them.

Margaret’s frustration as a mom trying to find fun family activities led her to create the company. She explained that she had spent many hours researching local events and interesting places when her son, who was still a child, was young. “There were a lot of Facebook groups, but Google showed mostly big tourist attractions.” “I wanted to find smaller, unique locations, places where my family could come together.”

It turned out that she wasn’t. She explained that she faced the same problem even when she traveled to different countries. “It was not just a local problem, it was an issue that affected parents worldwide.”

Margaret, a native of Poland, was shocked when she met a mother from Estonia while on holiday in Costa del Sol.
She was working on a similar project at home to help families discover local activities. Margaret explained that they both had been on the same road. “That meeting marked our collaboration.”

A third mother joined the project and they started to create Little Family Hub. This community-driven platform was designed to connect Costa del Sol Families with local events, activities and family-friendly spots.

A simple and trusted place to go for families

Margaret says that there are a lot of wonderful activities for children to do in southern Spain. However, she believes they can be difficult to locate. She said that while there are many events organised by the local ayuntamientos and tourist attractions, smaller local events go unnoticed. Most parents find out about these events through social media or word-of-mouth. We wanted everything to be in one place.

Little Family Hub was created to provide families with the information and resources they need. Parents can search for activities tailored to the age and interests of their children, whether it is a weekend event or a new class.

Margaret explained that parents spend a great deal of time searching for something in particular. They tend to stay in the places they are familiar with. Most families, I believe, want their kids to be exposed to a variety of activities to foster curiosity and an openness to the rest of the world.

Building Community Connections

Little Family Hub founders want the platform to do more than simply list events. They hope it will help families feel connected to their community. Margaret explained that the platform would make it easier for families to learn about what is happening around them, and try out new activities in Costa del Sol. Our goal is for them to have shared experiences which strengthen family bonds.

The platform also hopes to inspire parents by offering them not only practical information but also ideas on how to spend quality time with their children. “It’s more than logistics,” she said. We want to inspire families with ideas on how to spend Sundays outdoors, how support a child’s curiosity and how to explore.

Little Family Hub supports local businesses as well by providing them with a way to reach families that are interested in their products and services. Margaret stated, “If our platform allows small event organisers to connect with local places and more families that is a win-win for everyone.” If we can help parents to spend less time looking for things and more time spending time together, we will know that it is working.
