The first Circular Economy forum will be held at The Pool Marbella, Thursday November 6, and it will focus on sustainability.
The event, running from 4 pm to 8 pm, will bring together international experts to explore how circular economy principles can drive growth in tourism and construction – two of the Costa del Sol’s most important industries.
Organised by CleanTech Hub at The Pool, together with Marbella City Council and Innovación Activa, the forum aims to “turn sustainability into a practical engine for innovation and competitiveness”.
Among the keynote speakers are three leading women in sustainability: Elin Bergman, known as Sweden’s “Queen of the Circular Economy”; Anne Raudaskoski, a pioneer in sustainable design across Europe; and Inés Skotnicka, a specialist in entrepreneurship and innovation who will moderate the event.
What is the circular economy?
Circular economy is the production and use of goods in a way that allows materials to be used as long as they can. The circular economy focuses on repairing and reusing items instead of throwing them away. The parts of a product are reused when it reaches its end-of-life. This approach helps reduce waste, conserve resources, and create more sustainable value.
For Costa del Sol residents and visitors, this can mean cleaner air, more efficient public services, and a stronger local economy – as well as encouraging businesses to operate responsibly while maintaining Marbella’s reputation as a world-class destination.
Alejandro Freijo of the Economic Development and Employment Department at Marbella City council said that this initiative reflects Marbella’s commitment to a responsible growth, which protects natural resources and promotes innovation.
This event will have a special focus on how to address the Costa del Sol’s mobility challenges, explore ways to improve Marbella’s competitiveness as a tourist destination and support sustainable construction while easing the pressure on existing infrastructure.
Building a Greener Future
The meeting will lay the foundations for a permanent group of workers in collaboration with council. This will ensure that the discussion continues after the forum, and help create partnerships between tourism, hotel, and construction sectors.
The event supports Spain’s national strategy Espana Circular 2030 and the Junta de Andalucía’s broader sustainability goals. This event supports Marbella’s aim to become a leader in green growth and innovation.
The event is open to all professionals and organisations with an interest in tourism, innovation and sustainability.
