Hearings will begin on November 3
A draft agreement has been reached between the public prosecution’s office, and the attorney representing Alberto Gonzalez Amador – Ayuso’s girlfriend’s business partner.
It was somehow leaked into the media that Amador’s attorney proposed a plea bargain in which his client would confess to alleged tax offenses in exchange for avoiding criminal prosecution.
The Supreme Court said it would prosecute Garcia Ortiz for the crime of revealing secrets ‘for allegedly having provided a media outlet with the confidential contents of an email’ from Amador’s lawyer.
Garcia Ortiz denies leaking information about Amador either personally or via his office.
The Partido Popular demanded Garcia Ortiz resign and accused allies of Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of orchestrating the leak.
The Supreme Court opened an investigation into Garcia Ortiz after a complaint was filed by Amador whose earnings rose during the Covid-19 Pandemic of 2020 and 2021.
Alberto Gonzalez Amador, a dozen journalists and other witnesses are expected to testify in this trial.
