Malaga CF coach Sergio Pellicer faces long ban after red card in Burgos

Sergio Pellicer is facing a lengthy ban as he was sent off in Burgos for his role as Malaga CF’s coach.

Sergio Pellicer is the Malaga CF coach who was dismissed following his team’s 2-1 defeat to Burgos in Burgos, on Sunday evening. The 52-year old could be suspended for more than one game.

Pellicer quit after the final whistle due to strong protests over the decision by referee Palencia Caballero not awarding a late penalty in respect of an alleged pushing incident between Grego Sierra and Javi Montero during the 91st-minute.

In his report, the referee noted Pellicer’s comment that “you’ll see the mess you’ve made.” The coach was also heard shouting loudly in the tunnel to the officials’ dressing rooms.

A brief altercation between the players erupted after Malaga’s Einar Gailia received a second card for protesting.

Pellicer may face a ban of several matches, as Athletic coach Ernesto Valverde was recently banned for four games after a similar act during a game against Betis.
