The National Police found the dead body of a British man, 65, in Estepona on Saturday, September 20. It is believed that Andrew JW was an ex-employee at the Roman Oasis Manilva who had gone missing since August 15th.
SOS Desaparecidos deactivated the missing person alert while official confirmation is still pending. This indicates that the man was already dead.
The body was discovered in the Paraiso region during a massive search operation that involved the National Police (NP), Civil Protection, Estepona Local Police and firefighters. The area was heavily overgrown and wooded, complicating earlier attempts to search it with drones. Autopsy results are pending, which will determine the official cause of death and confirm the identity. But those who know him have already confirmed unofficially that the man is Andrew.
Andrew, who reportedly was preparing for a move back to UK, left with his mobile and wallet in a black Volkswagen Golf. A thorough investigation was conducted to trace his movements in the days leading up his disappearance.
Paul Hickling shared this heartfelt tribute from the owner of Roman Oasis, where Andrew was a waiter for many years before COVID. “Very sad today.” Andrew, a long-time waiter who worked for the Roman Oasis before COVID hit, was found dead on August 15, after he went missing. His death is not known yet. He was a nice man and a great waiter. He always took the time to talk to his customers. He was always cheerful and happy, as he ran around the restaurant. George, the cockatoo that we had, also loved him as he knew how to treat animals. “He will be missed by many.”
Authorities are awaiting autopsy results for further clarification.
