FIFA has released an official announcement announcing that the application process to the FIFA World Cup 26 Volunteer Programme is now open. This will take place ahead of what FIFA claims will be the largest World Cup ever.
FIFA said. “With around 65,000 volunteers expected to participate, the FIFA World Cup 26™ Volunteer Community will be the largest volunteer programme for a FIFA event to date,” the football association added. FIFA has also stated that volunteers will be working in 23 functional areas on official and nonofficial sites such as stadiums airports hotels and training grounds. The volunteers are the heart of the welcoming brigade, and as such they welcome and inform millions fans, and support operations in the three host countries.
Gianni Infantino stated that “Volunteers make FIFA tournaments a success.” “They can show their local pride and gain an inside look at the tournament. They also make lasting memories and friends while supporting this historic event.” Craig Collins was a volunteer at the FIFA Club World Cup of 2025 and the FIFA World Cup of 1994, both in Atlanta. He said that the programme was about more than just soccer. He was the one millionth FIFA Volunteer Community member earlier this year when he signed up for his third cup. Collins stated, “I’m proud to be part this moment, not only for FIFA, but also for my hometown.” “I am excited to apply to the 2026 Volunteer Program and hope to once again show my community off to the world,” Collins said.
All applicants over the age of 18 are encouraged to apply
FIFA is seeking passionate volunteers who are eager to make the FIFA World Cup a memorable experience for everyone. Volunteers are the heartbeat of FIFA events and champions of their Host City – sharing their pride and passion with fans from all corners of the globe, welcoming visitors to experience the unique culture of their Host City and supporting the extraordinary event that is a FIFA World Cup.
All volunteers are encouraged to apply. This includes students, retired people, veterans, and first-timers. Anyone older than 18 years old is eligible, even without prior experience. The organisation does expect a good level of English. In Mexico, Spanish along with English is desired; in Canada French is an asset. FIFA wants to be able to welcome football fans from around the world, so additional languages are a bonus. Apply now fifaworldcup.com/volunteers. The Volunteer Team Tryouts will begin in October 2025 for those who are accepted. The statement concluded by saying that the training would take place in march 2026 before the kickoff.
