Pac Man’s mysterious appearance on the prom in Fuengirola

Pac Man’s appearance at Fuengirola prom is a mystery

The video game Pac-Man has had a huge impact on generations. But why is the yellow pill-muncher now on the promenade of Fuengirola.

The iconic video game character Pac-Man has arrived at Fuengirola’s Paseo Marítimo Rey de España to celebrate his 45th anniversary, thanks to a collaboration between the OXO Video Game Museum and Bandai Namco Entertainment, with support from Fuengirola Council. The iconic character will be represented by a giant, pixel-perfect, over 2.5 metre tall statue for one month. This will turn the seaside walkway into a celebration and history of computer gaming.

This is the last chapter of a campaign commemorating 2025 that started in Madrid and Malaga. OXO’s Madrid headquarters hosted a Pac-Man-themed tribute in May. The event featured an immersive gaming experience, free-play stations, and hundreds of visitors. It also generated a lot of media attention. The campaign was then taken to Malaga’s Vialia Shopping Centre, before moving on to Fuengirola early in August.

A selfie with the pac-man figure is a great way to show off your love for this character. This is a nod to the Costa del Sol’s growing reputation as an innovative centre for culture and technology. This installation, which is more than a decoration, is part of OXO’s goal to promote videogames as a historical, cultural, and social phenomenon.

Pac-Man has become a universal icon of computer gaming. The installation, which celebrates the 45th birthday of the yellow ghost gobbler, invites people to explore the technological and creative legacy of interactive mediums.

Pac-Man and a selfie can be seen next to Yaramar Hotel in Fuengirola.
