Dozens of loggerhead turtles were born on Benidorm’s Levante coast on Thursday, just after midnight.
A number of passersby on Avenida de Madrid reported sightings in the sand of turtles.
Oceanografic experts arrived and the police officers cordoned it off.

Overnight, teams tried to find the nest of a turtle at Levante by following different tracks on the sand.
Two turtles had unfortunately died.
After a thorough examination by the specialists, 30 babies were released into the wild in Cala del Tio Ximo before dawn.
The remaining seven were taken to Valencia where they will spend a year in the Ocenografic’s ‘head-start’ initiative.
The loggerheads can develop in a protected environment for an entire year before they are released into the ocean. This gives them a greater chance of survival.
The authorities have not ruled out the possibility that more babies will be born during the day, since some of the eggs may hatch at a future time.
The 112 emergency number has been given to beach goers to contact if they see a turtle in the water.
Toni Perez said that nature has once again surprised him in Benidorm, by bringing forth these turtles.
It is not the first instance that we have witnessed loggerheads choosing our beaches as safe spaces to lay eggs. This highlights the healthiness of our coastline,” said Mr. Dickson.
