Two people jailed in Spain for busting sanctions by exporting equipment to Russia

Workers of a coffee machine company steal and resell units in Spain

Three employees of a Valencian firm that manufactures coffee-making machines were arrested for stealing 34 units and selling them.

The unnamed firm is in the La Safor region and the stolen catering-size machines were worth close to €30,000.

A number of machines were ear-marked for recycling but the employees sold them and others in a cut-price deal to a man who paid just €4,000.

In mid-July, the company bosses contacted the Policia Nacional when they realized that 34 machines had not been accounted for.

The suspects didn’t dismantle any of the 21 units they intended to convert into scrap.

One of the workers brought 13 machines to another town in preparation for the black market.

One of the three produced a bill stating that 21 machines were recycled. However, further investigation revealed that the paper work was referring to a completely different type of scrap.

The three men had been ordered to appear at the Policia Nacional on Friday last week. They were then arrested and released after being charged with theft.
