Lionesses battle back to make the final

The UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 Semi-Finals took place on the evening July 22, and England played Italy. In the first half of the match, England was unable to score. Italy scored the opening goal through Barbara Bonansea in the 33rd after an error on the defensive side. England failed to score before the half despite some offensive attempts.

The second half was a different story. It was an exciting game that lasted 52 minutes. England continued to press forward, dominating the possession and applying pressure on the Italian defense. The equaliser came five minutes into the stoppage period, when England substitute Michelle Agyemang tapped in after an Italian goalkeeper’s mistake. The match went into extra time. Italy’s first 15 minutes were spent trying to score, and they came close a few times, testing England’s defense. England was awarded a penalty after Italy’s foul on Beth Mead inside the penalty area in the second half extra time. Chloe Kelly took the penalty and, although the Italian goalkeeper had saved her first shot, Kelly scored on the rebound to make it 2-1.

The English team, who were ecstatic at the end of the match, held on bravely for the last few minutes to ensure their place in final. Italy’s fight ended in tears, but not without a struggle. Spain and Germany will face off in the next semifinal tomorrow at 9am. pm. The winner will take on England in the final matchup on July 27,
