Charo Esquiva impressed the crowd at Wimbledon.

Charo Esquiva is a Costa Blanca athlete who has achieved a stellar performance in the Wimbledon Junior Championships which ended on Sunday, 13th July. The 17-year old rising star from Bigastro in between Orihuela, and Algorfa reached the quarter-finals both in the singles and the doubles divisions. She was representing her municipality in the renowned tennis tournament. The Wimbledon Community Sport Centre is located in Roehampton.
Esquiva won the singles category by beating Hollie SMort from Britain with a score of 6-3,6-3. After that, Esquiva defeated China’s Yushan shao in a 6-2-7-6 (7-5) win, another excellent performance. Hannah Klugman from Britain beat her 6-4, 6-1 in the quarter-finals.
The duo, along with partner Nellie Tarraba, also from Sweden, proved to be a formidable force in the doubles division. They began by winning 6-1,6-3 against Anastasia Cvetkovic, Diana Simionescu and Anastasia Cvetkovic, both from Serbia. The duo then defeated China’s Yushan and Xinran sun 7-5, 6-4. They were not defeated until they played against the Czech twins Alena & Jana Kovackova.
Esquiva’s performance was excellent despite her defeats. Charo Esquiva’s impressive performance at the Junior Championships has cemented her place as one of Spain’s most promising young athletes.
