Kia has released the specifications and prices for the new Sportage, its best-selling model worldwide, in the UK and Europe. First customer deliveries are due to start later this year.

The Sportage was given a midlife refresh with a brand new exterior and interior design as well as innovative technologies from Kia’s latest models.

The new model is priced from €35,764/£30,885 for petrol models, with the Hybrid (HEV) available to order from €39,867/£34,425 and the PHEV powertrain will also return to the UK line-up later in the year. Kia is also introducing a simplified three-tier line-up to the Sportage range, comprising ‘Pure’, ‘GT-Line’, and ‘GT-Line S’ models. For the first time, all three powertrains – ICE, HEV and PHEV – will be available across every trim level in the line-up.

The first model to hit the UK market in 1995 and continue to sell well through five generations, this vehicle has become a favourite among motorists. Kia sold over 450,000 Sportage cars in the UK and globally more than 7 million times during its 30 year history. The Sportage is consistently the UK, European and Global best-seller of the brand and currently the UK’s best-selling SUV and second-most popular vehicle.

At the front, the latest version integrates a new front bumper and stacked LED headlight design, and LED ‘Star Map’ daytime running lights, replacing the boomerang-style DRLs of its predecessor. The grille was enlarged to give the Sportage a more ‘tiger-nose’ look, similar to the EV3, EV6, Sorento, and Picanto. The Sportage’s side profile remains the same, but the trim and side cladding beneath the doors have been redesigned. Redesigned bumpers and skid plates at the rear of the vehicle will enhance its road presence. Its rear lights have been redesigned with the ‘Star Map’ aesthetic.

Kia’s new connected vehicle Navigation Cockpit is now available on the touchscreen. It features dual screens of 31cm/12.33-inches with more squared off corners than previous models. ‘Pure’ and ‘GT-Line’ models receive a 11cm/4.3-inch driver display.

The centre console has been refinished in a brushed finish instead of the glossy piano black plastic that was previously used. This reduces the appearance of fingerprints and dirt. Kia, as usual, will offer different upholstery finishes based on the car’s grade. Also, the dashboard now features a hidden air vent.

Three powertrains are available across the three trim levels: a 1.6 litre T GDi, a 1.6 litre T GDi Hybrid and a 1.6 litre T GDi (HEV). The Hybrid is a combination of a combustion engine and 1.6-litre TGDi battery pack. This maximizes refinement, efficiency, and performance. The Sportage Plug-in Hybrid will be available later in 2025.
