San Pedro Alcántara has launched a summer maintenance plan to enhance its green spaces, aiming to improve their role as natural temperature regulators and promoters of well-being in the community.
The initiative, launched at the end June, is aimed at maintaining the urban green network of the town, giving priority to the preservation of gardens and trees that act as climate buffers.
To ensure the health of ornamental trees and plants, key measures include increasing lawn mowing. Shrub trimming and adjusting irrigation to meet current water levels. The plan positions gardens as more important than just an aesthetic feature, and as assets that can improve quality of living by lowering the local temperatures in summer. This project is part of the council’s larger strategy of sustainability and adaptation to climate change. It complements other floral beautification projects before the peak season.
