Plaza Mayor, a shopping centre located near Torremolinos, and the Malaga Centre for Transfusion, Tissues, and Cells will hold a blood donation campaign on Friday, July 4 from 5pm to 9:00pm.
This event will encourage blood donations and help hospitals in the province to maintain their critical blood supply during the summer months, when they tend to decline.
For easy access, the mobile donation unit is located at Plaza Mayor’s entrance between McDonald’s & Burger King. As an incentive to the first 100 donors, they will receive a complimentary ticket for Yelmo Cinemas in Plaza Mayor.
Malaga Transfusion centre needs around 250 donations daily to meet the hospital demand. These campaigns are vital as summer shortages may compromise emergency medical procedures. Plaza Mayor has been supporting this cause since 2012, and in the past, they have facilitated over 300 donations. This year, their goal is to facilitate at least 50 donations.
Plaza Mayor is more that just a place for shopping and fun. “We are committed to social causes such as blood donation, particularly during times of high need,” said Rafael Perea Luque.
Donors must be at least 18 years old, weigh over 50 kilograms, and in good health. The donation process can benefit up three people and takes only 15 minutes. Donations are accepted all year round at the Malaga Transfusion Centre in the Hospital Civil Complex, Monday through Saturday from 9am – 2pm and then again from 4pm – 9pm.
