THE Guardian The report, published in the remote northern part of Spain between Madrid and Santander is announcing the allure the Sierra de la Demanda.
The area encompasses the least populated areas of Spain, Burgos Soria and La Rioja.
San Lorenzo is the highest peak, at 2,271m. The landscape is harsh, rocky and covered in pines.
The Lagunas de Neila are also worth a visit. They consist of a collection of glacial lakes surrounded by cliffs, pine forests and a rocky terrain.
Reminiscent of an ‘Espana vacia’ (empty Spain), the Sierra de la Demanda is a beautiful, yet to be fully discovered, part of Spain.
In your exploration, you can visit Santo Domingo de Silos as well as the Territorio Artlanza and the village Quintanar de la Sierra.
