Exclusive: Could the guns found during Madeleine McCann’s search in Portugal have a connection to her or prime suspect Brueckner

THE Olive Press Can reveal more information about the firearms and other items discovered in recent searches in Portugal for Madeleine McCann, who has been missing since 2007.

The two guns found in a derelict building where Christian Brueckner (38), the prime suspect, had stayed known to be in 2007 are still being analyzed.

The weapons remained in Portugal, despite the fact that scientists sent a number of animal bones and bone fragments to Germany to test.

It comes after the head of the country’s PJ force, Luis Neves said the searches had ‘not been in vain’.

He has not provided any further details. But while one of the weapons was described by Portuguese police sources as a 50-year-old ‘rusting relic’ so far they have been tight-lipped about the other.

This is a 6.35 calibre gun that is not in great working condition, but is still relatively new.

Find the cistern in which the gun was found.

The following are some of the ways to get in touch with each other Olive Press source in Lisbon revealed it had been found in the ruin, where Brueckner allegedly camped beside his VW Westfalia van, buried under ‘stones and dirt’.

The source added it could definitely ‘still be linked’ to the disappearance of toddler Maddie, 3, in May 2007.

Brueckner could have also been involved in other crimes committed on the Algarve including missing children.

The source revealed that “the guns were found at different locations and immediately seized by PJ.” They wanted to control everything.

One of them was ‘in a well covered with muddy water and garbage, the other in a ruin under stones and dirt.’

The Olive Press Can reveal that this 6.35 calibre weapon was a similar-sized weapon to one Brueckner carried sometimes when living in the Algarve, 2007.

Former friends and acquaintances told The Olive Press He owned the gun for most of 2007, when he lived 45 minutes away in Foral village, on the inland side of Praia da Luz.

Search fingerprints discovered at the bottom of cistern near where gun found.

His former landlady told The Olive Press he had been ‘carrying the gun’ when he was recruited to track down a teenage girl – a German orphan – who had run away from the home of his then girlfriend.

Lia Silva, Olive Press: “He was really frightening. He came and went. “People in the village were afraid of him.

“Some people reported that they saw him holding a firearm which was evidently really terrifying.”

She continued that the paedophile had been ‘given the job’ of locating the young girl who had vanished and he brought her back from a rural property where she was staying with three Russians.

As shocking as it may seem, The Olive Press The 16-year old was found to be pregnant.

According to an official missing person’s report filed with police in nearby Messines, she had come back ‘voluntarily’ and didn’t wish to make any further complaint.

The report seen by this newspaper was filed along with her then guardian’s girlfriend Christian Brueckner, who was a known criminal.

The German woman, born in the same month as Brueckner, claimed to be a ‘child psychologist’ and ran a rehabilitation programme for troubled teenagers.

Silva, her landlady, claims that she fled Villa Bianca and left thousands in unpaid rental, traces of drugs, and syringes.

She has been questioned by German police at least 4 times about her involvement at that time with Brueckner.

Maddie was last seen on the night she went missing. Mail on Sunday Brueckner parked his van in front of her house and told her he was on a long trip back from Tomar in the north part of Portugal.

She said he was up early and had left.

Earlier this year, the police launched a recent three-day manhunt in a particular area about 2 kilometres outside a farmhouse near Praia da Louz, where Brueckner spent a decade.

The German BKA who has been investigating Brueckner’s activities since 2018 focused their search on 21 plots that had various ruined buildings on them.

They stopped their search before the end the third night.

Brueckner was in Praia de Luz the night Maddie disappeared. He has a long history of convictions, including sex crimes, child abuse and aggravated sexual assault.

His mobile phone was connected to the mobile tower in the village just two hours prior to Maddie being snatched out of her bed, at the Ocean Club resort where she and her family were vacationing.

Brueckner stole regularly from apartments within the complex.

He is said to have confessed to at least two friends that he knows what happened to Maddie, and could be involved in the abduction.

In a court trial held last year, he was cleared of five more sex crimes in the Algarve. He also was cleared of three rapes, and two child abuse charges. The verdict is under appeal.

If unsuccessful, he could be released in September of this coming year.
