Every morning, a dedicated team of volunteers from Age Concern Marbella – San Pedro sets out to brighten the lives of older expatriates in the Costa del Sol.
Their efforts make a profound impact, one day at time, from sharing a cup or tea to offering vital support during medical appointments.
Many elderly expats face loneliness on a daily basis. One hour of “coffee and chat” can be enough to lift spirits, create connections and offer companionship for those who seldom see others. A spokesperson for the organization said, “It is about being there to help someone when they need you.” These small gestures are huge.
Volunteers’ work goes beyond simple conversation. Some volunteers help with practical tasks such as driving neighbors to medical appointments where a friendly smile can ease anxiety, or helping with the occasional shopping trip. It only takes a few hours and a willing heart to assist.
Age Concern Marbella – San Pedro, which receives no funding from local, regional, or national governments, relies on volunteers with organisational or fundraising skills to keep its services running. If you have a talent for planning or raising funds, it can improve lives.
Volunteering is a rewarding experience that not only benefits others, but also makes you feel good. A long-time Volunteer said: “It feels great.”
Interested individuals are invited to call Age Concern’s helpline at 689 355 198, open weekdays from 10am to 6pm, or email info@ageconcernmarbella.com. The group holds regular coffee mornings at which potential volunteers are able to learn more about the organization, ask questions, or meet with its team.
The spokesperson said, “We’re looking for new faces who want to join us.” Come see what we’re doing and how you can help make a difference.
Age Concern Marbella – San Pedro’s team looks forward to hearing from the community, ready to turn small acts of kindness into life-changing moments for older expats.
