Arroyo de la Miel is hosting its Feria and Fiestas de San Juan, a celebration of music, tradition and community spirit, from June 24 to 29.
Juan Antonio Lara is the Mayor of Benalmadena and he has announced that this event will provide entertainment for all age groups.
Mayor Lara said, “San Juan represents more than just a fair. It’s about our history, identity and togetherness.” This deeply rooted tradition brings together families, children, seniors, residents, and tourists for memorable moments. We have put together a varied programme with well-known musicians, creating a safe and inclusive experience for all.
The festivities begin on June 23 with the judging of júas (effigy) contests, street and balcony decorations, and lively verbenas (street parties) hosted by local brotherhoods. At 10pm, the artistic lighting display will illuminate Plaza de la Autonomía, followed by the traditional júas burning at midnight. Bil Bil Castle’s spectacular pyromusical performance will illuminate the early hours.
On June 24, the main day, a solemn mass honouring San Juan Bautista will take place at 6.30pm at the Inmaculada Concepción parish, followed by a procession through the town centre, accompanied by the Benalmádena Municipal Band.
The Municipal Tent at Parque de La Paloma’s fairgrounds will host excellent performances: Las Soles (June 24), Henry Méndez (June 25), Pitingo (June 26), La Guardia (June 27), Don Patricio (June 28), and Álvaro García with Nia (June 29). Local orchestras like Kalima and Alboreá, plus DJ Tony Martín’s sessions until 3am, will keep the energy high. Evening dance performances will be held at the Plaza de la Mezquita.
“We’ve put together a balanced lineup, from Spanish pop classics to modern rhythms, appealing to all generations,” said Peña. Local talent, academies and associations will play an important part, enriching the community’s involvement.
The Inclusive Fair initiative has expanded following last year’s successful launch. It now includes an information point, signage adapted for people with disabilities, and rest areas. Lara said, “We want a fair that is open and participatory where everyone feels welcome.”
Daytime festivities will unfold at Plaza Adolfo Suárez with live music. On June 29, awards for júas, streets, balconies, floats, horsemen, and paella contests will precede the closing show. Children’s Day is also celebrated on this day with discounted prices for rides.
Lara concluded by inviting everyone to immerse themselves into the joy of San Juan. This fair reflects Arroyo de la Miel’s warm, welcoming nature, and we have worked tirelessly to make this event unforgettable.
