Marbella hospital recieves cuddle cot for stillborn babies donated by grieving mum

Marbella hospital receives cuddle crib for stillborn baby donated by a mother in grief

TWO MUMS have now raised more than €13,000 to help support new families whose babies are also born stillborn.

Hayley Wilkins & Natalie Claytor are now working together to raise money for the purchase of ‘cuddle cots’ to donate to hospitals around Spain.

These special beds come with a cooling device that allows families to spend quality time with their stillborn child, and to grieve, mourn, and be with them.

Hayley Wilkins, (right), gave birth to Sienna Elizabth Rose O’Shea on January 1st of this year.

Almost all hospitals in the UK, where Hayley is from, have ‘cuddle cots’. It’s not common in Spanish hospitals. Estepona is one of them. Hayely’s baby Sienna Elizabth Rose O’Shea died at 40 weeks in January.

Hayley donated a cuddle bed to Hospiten late last month.

QuironSalud, in Marbella, received the second cuddle cot that was raised over the weekend.

After more than €1800 was raised at an event at La Sala on June 4, they’ve been able to order several more cuddle cots to donate, raising the total to five cuddle cots, and 35 comfort kits for the new mums.

Hayley says that hospitals are now prepared to deal with the worst-case scenario, and can provide the best possible care for their patients.

There are 11 Spanish hospìtals on their waiting lists, and they’re encouraging more hospitals to join the list, determined to keep fundraising until the need can be met.

Hayley wants to ensure that her baby Sienna’s death was not in vain.

Hayley’s lung collapsed during an emergency C-section, so she was placed in a coma. Hayley was in a state of coma at the time, and a funeral director removed her child while Hayley remained unconscious.

Hayley, who had spent nine months in a coma, woke up to find that her baby had died. She also couldn’t hold her own baby.

She told Olive Press that it was “one of the most traumatizing days of my entire life.” “The cuddle cot wouldn’t bring her back but it would have been a huge difference to be able hold her and to spend more time with Sienna.”
