‘Gay Killer’ gets 25 years in jail with four other murders still to be resolved in Spain

A MAN branded as the ‘Gay Killer’ who is suspected of killing five men in Bilbao following dating app hook-ups, has been jailed for 25-and-a-half years.

Last month, a Basque High Court jury found Nelson David Moreno Bolaños- aged 29 and originally from Columbia- guilty of murdering a music teacher called Jose in October 2021.

The court also ordered compensation of €156,740 be paid to Jose’s family.

Moreno also faces charges for four additional murders, including one involving a gay man, and a second attempted homicide.

After he’d been strangled, police found Jose on the floor of his master bedroom.

After the murder, Moreno called Jose’s bank and changed the passwords to allow him to access his account so he could make transfers.

After money was taken from the account, Jose’s brother alerted the police.

Moreno was already in prison for 10 years, for a attempted murder that occurred just two months before Jose’s death.

After his latest victim was defrauded, he received a sentence of over two-years in prison.

Moreno, who arrived in Bilbao 6 years ago, applied twice for asylum in Spain but was rejected.

He was a gambler addicted to online gambling sites, and he used to scam men for money to fund the excess.
