‘We live in a world where crime knows no borders’: Costa del Sol town demands more police to combat mafia wars

The mayor of Fuengirola, after a Saturday night shooting at a bar along the promenade, has requested more police and federal assistance.

In an apparent drug-related attack, two Scottish men were killed. 

The mayor requested more police officers and resources to deal with this type of crime in an emergency meeting held with Policia Nacional and Policia Local.

Ana Mula, Mayor of Fuengirola stated that “we want to improve our response to the increasing phenomenon of gang fighting related to drug trafficking along the Costa del Sol”.

“We are living in a region and time where crime has no borders,” said she.

“This is why the central government needs to be more involved.”

The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has recently urged the federal government to implement the necessary measures to tackle organised crime.

The mayor has said that there are already plans in place for the Policia Local Fuengirola to be reinforced and that this will be included in the operations the police force conducts every summer.
