Irish man shot in head outside Costa Blanca Shopping Centre- Suspect jailed

A 21-year-old irish man was shot in the face when he was near the Zenia Boulevard Shopping Centre in Orihuela Costa.

The Guardia Civil has arrested two men following the incident that occurred on May 13, one of which is the man who fired the weapon.

The victim is still in critical condition in the ICU of Torrevieja Hospital.

Guardia Civil has confirmed that two men, both Irish citizens aged 47 and 27, were arrested for a crime of attempted murder.

The arrests took place in Pilar de la Horadada, Orihuela Costa and a search of their homes was also conducted.

An Orihuela court has remanded the alleged shooter into custody while the other man has been bailed on a charge of ‘assisting after the event’.

His passport has been seized and he has been told to stay in the country.

The Guardia Civil analysed the evidence and took statements, including inquiries into the victim.

Officers found in the field a bag that contained a gun and bullets as well as the victim’s phone.
