Spanish rising star nabs Rome Masters 1000 in 2 sets vs Jannik Sinner

Spanish rising star wins Rome Masters 1000 vs Jannik Siner in 2 sets

The Rome Masters 1000 was won by Spanish tennis rising star Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday after he defeated Jannik Sinner with only two sets, 6(5)-7 and 1-1.

Alcaraz now has 19 titles. It is not too late for him to surpass his Spanish predecessors Rafael Nadal, Manuel Orantes, and David Ferrer. He’s only 22. Carlos Moya from Mallorca is the fourth most ranked Spaniard of all time with 20 titles.

Alcaraz has now won 11 Big Titles. These include Grand Slam titles, trophies from the Nitto ATP finals and ATP Masters 1000 events, as well as Olympic singles gold, according to the ATP Tour’s website. reported“Alcaraz is the only player to have won at least one ATP Masters 1000 trophy at each of the five Masters 1000 events in the first season,” said the news outlet.

The article said: “Despite only playing his first event at the elite level four years ago, Alcaraz has now tied with Michael Chang and Alexander Zverev for the eighth-most titles in series history since 1990.”

The news outlet highlighted that the Spanish star tennis has a record of having won more than 1 Big Title per every 5 events he played (1 title in 4.5 events).

The sports news outlet stated that “Only Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are ahead of him.”

Alcaraz is the current second best ranked player on the PIF ATP Rankings. He has won more Big Titles than Pete Sampras (5.9) and Andre Agassi (6.1).

Sinner did not close the gap to Alcaraz. The Italian would have been one Big Title closer to the Spaniard had he won in his own country. Sinner hadn’t lost a game since last year’s Beijing Final against Alcaraz.
