On the Costa Blanca, a French fugitive wanted in drug trafficking has been arrested

Policia Nacional stopped a FRENCH fugitive on charges of drug trafficking, money laundering and money transfer when he was walking through an Elche street.

A 29-year-old was walking around Alicante city, and a police checkpoint attracted suspicions.

He had no identification on him when asked to do so.

The man gave his name, and a search of the Policia Nacional database revealed that French authorities had issued an European Arrest Warrant against him in August last year.

The charges against him date back to 2022, when a package with cocaine from Brazil was discovered by customs agents at Orly Airport near Paris.

Investigators discovered three additional parcels sent to that same person during February and early March in the year.

The man is accused of being a member a criminal group that specializes in money laundering and drug dealing.

If convicted, the prison term could be up to 10 years.

The National Court in Madrid processes his extradition back to France.
