Guardia Civil arrested two thieves for stealing at least 84 holiday homes on the Costa Blanca in less than one year.
The burglars broke into dozens of properties in Javea via the ‘slip method’.
Plastic cards could be slid down the locking mechanisms, or a screwdriver could be inserted to open front doors that weren’t fully locked.

Last July, the Guardia was alerted to two such break-ins that took place in homes that were unoccupied and were the main targets of the thieves.
Both men, aged 48 and 62 and both Algerians, had extensive criminal records and served prison time for crimes similar to those committed by the two men.
A Denia court ordered that they be returned to prison pending the outcome of their latest trial.
Guardia officers arrested the suspects in Javea on April 9 after months spent working on surveillance and intelligence.
Three raids and search were conducted at two addresses in Alicante City, and at a Villajoyosa property.
Many valuables, including jewellery and high-end watches were recovered, as well as electronic devices, currency in multiple currencies and luxury items, such top-brand clothes and accessories.
Some of the items have been returned to their owners.
Residents should report suspicious activities to the Guardia Civil at all times.
