Marinas del Mediterraneo has teamed up with Turismo Marinaro Costa del Sol to bring the cultural heritage of the sea to Estepona’s residents and tourists.
Both organizations have signed a partnership agreement in order to promote sustainable tourism, which is closely linked to Estepona’s Mediterranean roots and fishing tradition. They want to emphasize the importance of the sea in Estepona’s history and encourage more eco-friendly, responsible tourism.
The Estepona port will be hosting a series activities as part of this project. These activities will focus on artisanal fisheries, marine culture and the role women play in the fishing industry. Visitors will learn more about local seafood, traditional fishing methods and the work being done by the government to protect the marine ecosystem.
This agreement provides a great opportunity to showcase the importance of our fishing heritage, and also connect Marinas del Mediterraneo with the local community,” said Manuel Raigon.
Sonia Cruz is the CEO of Turismo Marinero Costa del Sol. She added, “We want to provide a more authentic, sustainable, and rooted tourism experience that celebrates and respects our roots.”
The project is also a support to the national Red de Turismo Marinero which seeks to promote sustainable tourism across Spain, and protect coastal communities.
Estepona port is an example that can be used to help strengthen the connection between the city, the port and the sea. It will also help preserve Estepona’s unique Mediterranean identitiy for future generations.
