Estepona is indignant as pins are hidden inside hot dog sausages that have been left on the street.
Apparently one of the neighbours in the Avenida Galera Costa area, just outside Estepona city, discovered the trap. The trap is typically used to cruelly mutilate or kill feral cat. Someone, probably one of the neighbors, placed the potentially deadly sausages in a Tupperware container in the street in order to attract cats or other animals.
The incident was reported to the Guardian Civil. However, there has not been any word yet on whether a suspect had been identified. The family who discovered the cattrap is appealing to potential witnesses to come forth and report any sightings they may have to the Guardia Civil. Unfortunately, it appears that this isn’t the first time it has happened. Facebook commenters have shared their previous experiences. One said, ‘But what kind of monster is that? Four or five years ago, they placed them between Calle Blas Infante Calle Pablo Picasso. I actually found three pieces that contained hypodermic syringes. Another commented, ‘I am a neighbour of Avda Costa Galera, and this gives me a feeling of helplessness. It’s terrible; we need to find out who did it.
They are an important part of the ecosystem in Spain and help to control rat and mouse numbers.
