A roaring blaze tore through Silencio Beach, a popular beachfront chiringuito beach club on Torremolinos’ Paseo Marítimo, in the early hours of Good Friday, April 18.

The fire, reported shortly after midnight, engulfed the popular Los Álamos club, producing a thick column of smoke visible across the Costa del Sol. As the club was evacuated quickly, no injuries were reported.

Firefighters from the Malaga Provincial Fire Consortium, with crews from Torremolinos and Alhaurín de la Torre, responded around 2.30am. Firefighters from the Malaga Provincial Fire Consortium, along with crews from Torremolinos and Alhaurin de la Torre, responded around 2.30am. ‘The fire was in full development, affecting the entire premises,’ the consortium reported. Crews remained at the site to cool off the area and stop it from re-igniting.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of this fire, and have not yet determined whether it was accidental. The fire is similar to an incident that happened in Marbella last January when a person was arrested on suspicion of setting fire to businesses located along the beachfront.

Images taken by firemen suggest that the beach was completely destroyed by the flames.
