The Costa del Sol region is gearing for one of its most spectacular Semana Santas, and the holiday sector in Malaga is ready for a busy season.
Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport is expecting nearly 1,200 extra flights between April 21 and compare to last year.
Train operators, including Renfe, are backing up services, adding more than 700 seats for the Madrid-Málaga route, showing a significant rise in visitors eager to experience the region’s magnificent processions and springtime warmth. Costa del Sol appears to be where all the Easter visitors want to go.
The Association of Hoteliers predicts an occupancy rate of 80 to 80% across ten consecutive nights. This will surpass the 75.98% of 2024. Ronda leads with an impressive 95per cent, followed by Frigiliana-Torrox (84.02 per cent), Benalmádena (81.72 per cent), and Fuengirola (80.14 per cent). Ruralidays.com reports that rural tourism is booming as well, with bookings up nearly 40% in the province. Málaga outshines Andalusia, boasting 70% occupancy for the core Easter period (Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday), driven by favourable mid-April weather.
Forecasts indicate that despite early week showers, conditions will be milder than the heavy rains of last year, and skies will clear up from Maundy’s Thursday, which increases optimism. Javier Frutos, president of Malaga’s Hospitality Association, anticipates a ‘very good’ season, fuelled by strong domestic tourism. Exceltur confirms it, projecting a growth in national sales over 2024.
Costa del Sol will be a place of unforgettable Easters with its breath-taking processions, thriving culinary scene and breathtaking processions. Bookings are pouring in at the last minute, and this Easter is set to be one of most profitable ever for the region.
