A body was found near Gibraltar, on the beach in La Linea.
The body lay face down on the sand in the area near the restaurant Mireia.
Investigators initially were confused as they quickly realized that the man had not been washed up on the shore by the ocean, because he was discovered far away from the water.
It was a 45-year-old man who had worked as a server in a restaurant in La Linea.

The autopsy has not confirmed the cause of death, but most signs indicate that the man died from a heart attack.
The man was completely dry and far away from the water, so it was clear he wasn’t dragged out to sea.
The cause of death was not linked to any violent events, as no signs of violence were found.
As soon as the body had been discovered, the National Police was on the scene. Local Police also appeared to be securing the surrounding area during the initial inspections.
This is not the first instance a body lying lifeless on beaches has been discovered in La Linea, Gibraltar.
In both 2023 as well as 2024, bodies have been found in La Linea. They are probably immigrants who drowned when trying to pass the Strait of Gibraltar.
