An expatriate British living in Benidorm shared his surprise when he learned how much it costs to eat out in another Spanish town.
Harry, known as @harrytokky on TikTok, recently visited Puerto Banús, the upmarket marina near Marbella, in the western part of the Malaga province. He uploaded a video showing how much his Costa Blanca lifestyle cost him compared to the one he was used to. He said that Spain might not be as cheap as expats once thought.
British expatriate: “Puerto Banús prices are ridiculous!”
In the last few weeks, I have spent more than I would in a month in Benidorm. “How crazy is that?” he told His 33,000 followers. He added that the prices in Puerto Banús are “ridiculous” from his point of view.
While enjoying a night out at a Chinese restaurant, Harry said the bill came close to €150 for two persons. He estimated that meals in the area generally cost between €50 and €75 per person. He said that the same money would buy at least three meals for him in Benidorm.
Is Spain getting expensive?
“Don’t misunderstand me, it is absolutely brilliant,” said he. Spain is not as cheap as people think. He concluded, “It’s becoming very expensive.” Harry admits that despite the higher price in the zone he is a fan and has been to the area many times.
Property experts say that the Costa del Sol offers luxury and high-end experiences, while the Costa Blanca, which includes towns such as Benidorm and Altea and Alicante is known for its affordability.
