Malaga’s Easter Week processions draw thousands to the Costa del Sol’s main city, and Renfe is ensuring late-night travel with special train backup on the Cercanías line.
For the nights of Wednesday to Thursday and Thursday to Friday, extra services will run to take home those enjoying the emblematic cultural extravaganza of ‘night of thrones’. The last C1 line train departing from Malaga Centro will be at 2.50am. This is the closest station to the route of the procession. Fuengirola to Malaga will be the reverse direction. A train will depart at 3.40am. The first Friday morning regular service will start at 5.20am. This means that trains won’t stop for more than three and a quarter hours.
Renfe’s Holy Week plans include 1,002 trains along Malaga’s lines C1 and C2, with 132 nighttime special services offering a total 868,000 seating. This is a 10% increase in the regular schedule to meet nighttime demand. Renfe’s extended operating hours will make it easier for you to travel from Malaga to Fuengirola, whether you want to soak up the beauty of Malaga’s processions or explore the party atmosphere.
