FreakCon: Geek Takeover Returns to Torremolinos With Pixel-Powered Punch

Get your capes and controllers ready – FreakCon The Costa del Sol has never been more vibrant, exciting, or bold than it is this year.

The 9th edition of southern Spain’s largest geek gathering is set to take place May 24 and 25 2025. This will transform Torremolinos’ Palacio de Congresos into a haven of 30,000 square metres for cosplay queens, anime fans, and gaming experts.

Following a record-breaking turnout of over 45,000 fans in 2024, this year’s event is aiming even higher – with an expanded outdoor area, more guest stars, and a jam-packed schedule of pop culture mayhem.

From viral creators and anime icons

The first batch of guests has already been revealed – and it’s shaping up to be a who’s who of digital legends and fandom royalty.

Mister Jägger, known for his wildly creative online content and viral antics, leads the charge. Nikotxan is the creator of the cult cartoon series. Cálico Electrónico, and Tami Tamako, a Japanese pop culture expert and cosplayer.

Djoseppe and Comic Pau, two of the most beloved voices from the movie, have also been confirmed. One Piece community. Elesky is an accomplished pianist and live streamer who has become known for her rich renditions of film, video game and anime soundtracks.

Party Like It’s Pixelated

When the sun goes down, the energy ramps up with the Atomic Pixel Party – a nightly extravaganza mixing live electronic music, pixel art visuals, and otaku references galore. Think of it as a rave for retro gamers, anime lovers and digital dreamers – all rolled into one neon-lit bash.

Cosplay is not limited to consoles

FreakCon is more than just an opportunity to display your Naruto costume, it’s a pop culture festival. The programme features live shows, concerts and workshops as well as tabletop games and themed exhibitions. There’s something to suit everyone, whether you like K-pop or manga, classic arcade games, sci-fi, or classic sci-fi shows.

The event spills out of the convention centre this year with open-air performances and food trucks.

The local economy is boosted by a massive boost

Last year’s edition generated an economic impact of more than €8.5 million for the city of Torremolinos – and organisers are confident 2025 will top that, both in attendance and revenue.

The festival has been a landmark event for the area, positioning Torremolinos to be the destination of choice for fans of alternative entertainment.
