Spanish government grants nearly 300 million euros for renewables and tech projects  – CSN

Nearly 300 million Euros in subsidies will go to 34 green projects and renewable energy in Spain.

The Ministry for Ecological Transition & Demographic Challenge in Spain (MITECO) will provide the money.

Around 200 million euros will be used to fund a Sunwafe project in Asturias for the production and distribution of silicon wafers and ingots.

The materials produced by this plant will then be used to manufacture electronic circuits. It is regarded as the backbone for semiconductor fabrication and a crucial component for electronic devices.

The remainder of the funds will go towards the production of electrolysers and wind energy components.

Solar panel manufacturers will be supported in seven projects. Four allocations will be related to energy-storage, and another one will be for heat pump production.

The government has a plan to transform Spain’s economy and make it greener and renewable.

This is also in line with the REPowerEU plan and the Net-Zero Industry Act that was proposed by Brussels’ European Commission.

Twelve autonomous communities will benefit from the project and company support, including Basque Country (Castilla-La Mancha), Andalusia (Galicia), Castile and Leon (Castilla and Leon), Canary Islands, Catalonia (Navarre), Valencian Community, Asturias and Madrid.
