The programme includes works by Fernando Sor, Agustín Barrios, Francisco Tárrega, Joaquín Rodrigo, Isaac Albéniz, Astor Piazzolla and Roland Dyens. Tickets cost 15 Euros and can be bought at the box offices one hour prior to the concert.
Dmitry Zagumennikov is a Russian born musician who was born on a small riverbank village called Yuryevets in Russia in 1987. “My interest in the guitar began when I was just 11 years old,” recalls the musician.
He says, “At that point, the classical guitarist was hard to come by in my region.” In my house, by pure chance, I discovered an old Soviet seven-stringed guitar that was converted to a six string.
Zagumennikov explained, “By sheer chance, Vadim Belov, my neighbour, was a guitar player. I went to him one day and asked for a new string. He showed me his instrument and played it. I didn’t know how he made such beautiful sounds but I was deeply impressed by his playing and asked him to show me. He agreed.”
The guitarist said, “The lessons with Vadim inspired me and opened my eyes to the wonderful world of music.” “I started competing in children’s competitions and won prizes quite often.”
Zagumennikov studied in Moscow at Alfred Schnittke College of Music, and later at Gnessin Academy of Music. The guitarist won competitions in Russia as well as abroad.
In 2012, he completed his studies at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts. He then moved to Berlin to complete a Masters degree at the Hanns Eisler School of Music. Since then, he’s lived primarily in Berlin where he plays the classical guitar and teaches it.
Zagumennikov is no stranger to Andalucía and has previously taken part in the town’s prestigious international Andrés Segovia international guitar competition and in October 2023 he gave a performance at El Molino in Cajiz (Vélez-Málaga).
