Brits visiting Spain warned of potential 200% hike in holiday charges - CSN

CSN warns Brits traveling to Spain of a possible 200% increase in holiday fees

The British press is warning travellers of possible increases in holiday costs of up to 2000%.

The Sun and Wales Online both reported that the holiday tax rates on certain Balearic Islands might increase dramatically in this summer.

They claim cruise ship passengers could see overnight charges increased by 200% from €2 up to €6.

The new measures are part of the Balearic governments’ proposals to Ibiza, Menorca, and Formentera.

Maximum overnight charges could rise from €4 to €6 per person per night.

On the higher end of the scale, four and five-star accommodations could be slapped with a €42 per person per week tariff.

There is some good news, however, for winter travelers. The tourist fee for January and February has been abolished.
