Tabletom return to Louie Louie for classic - Costa News Spain

Tabletom Return to Louie Louie Classic – Costa News Spain

Tabletom, a local band from Estepona, will perform at Louie Louie in Estepona on Friday March 14.

Tabletom, known for their genre defying sound promises an unforgettable night of live music. Formed in 1976 in a Málaga hippie commune, Tabletom blended jazz, rock, reggae, blues, and flamenco. Led by Roberto ‘Rockberto’ González, with Pedro and José Manuel Ramírez on guitar and flute, Jesús Ortiz on bass, Javier Denis on sax, and drummer Salvador Zurita, they debuted with Mezclalina (1980).

Their classic Rock Andaluz albums clashed against RCA’s goals for commercial success, which kept the band in the underground. Their electrifying live performances created a loyal following.

The band survived many obstacles, including the 1985 split and Rockberto’s demise in 2011. Perico and Pepillo, who were later joined by singer Toni Moreno, kept Tabletom alive. Their 1991 hit ‘Me estoy quitando,’ a tribute to Camarón de la Isla, gained fame via Extremoduro’s 1996 cover of it. Tabletom is still a fusion between styles and raw power after nearly 50 years.

Louie Louie’s doors open at 9:00pm. Tickets are available at the venue for €18 or online for €15 from nipopnijazz.com. Don’t miss this slice of Málaga’s musical legacy in Estepona.
