The force of recent rains provoked an avalanche on the A-397, the road that connects the Costa de Sol with the Serranía de Ronda, causing it to be closed to traffic at kilometre 31.

Local authorities will monitor the terrain to ensure that there are no more rocks or shifts. MA 8302 at Genaguacil will also remain closed, if not permanently, until the current weather system clears. Pine trees are falling.

Since the rainstorms started, the Malaga Province has experienced over 70 incidents that have resulted in road closures. These are mostly due to rock and mudslides. As mountain runoff continues to flow into rivers, the risk of flooding is still present. Local authorities have called for extreme caution in crossing flooded roads throughout the province.

Yellow weather alerts continue to be issued for much of Malaga Province and Costa del Sol due to the forecast of heavy rains, storms and more for the rest of the week.
