Mijas Heroes save drowning victim from flood deluge. Costa News Spain

Two brothers were walking with their sons when they heard a man screaming in Mijas. They also heard a neighbor who realized that the man was trapped in his car, after being washed away by torrential flood waters.

The terrifying event happened in the Atalaya area near to the A-7053 between Fuengirola and Alhaurín el Grande. The floodwaters were so powerful that he was trapped inside his car for several hours, unable to escape. The fire brigade arrived too late as the level of water continued to rise.

The brave men decided to get their hands dirty and pull the trapped man from his car. They managed to pull the man to safety with some teamwork and ropes, and proved that not all heroes are in capes.

These heroes deserve a round of applause. Keep your distance from country roads during this harsh winter weather.
